Probe body formed over barring gold medallist from attending CU recruitment viva

The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) today formed a three-member probe committee to investigate into the incident of barring a gold medallist candidate from attending viva voce of lecturer recruitment at the university’s Zoology department.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within a short time, said Assistant Professor Helal Uddin, the head of the probe body.

He said they will sit on Sunday with the other members of the committee and will try to submit the report within one week.

Assistant Proctor Pranab Mitra Chowdhury and Assistant Proctor Mizanur Rahman were made member secretary and member respectively of the probe body.

Md Amdadul Haque, a prime minister’s gold medallist for his academic achievements, was forcibly barred from attending a viva voce for recruitment of lecturer in Zoology Department allegedly by some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on March 27.

Amdadul lodged a written complaint to CU vice-chancellor on March 30 demanding a retake of the viva voce examination cancelling the previous one.

He also filed a case on March 31 with a Chattogram court, accusing seven BCL men of criminal intimidation, kidnap, wrongful confinement, theft and attempt to murder.
