A young man went missing as a private car plunged into the Dhaleshwari river breaking the railing of a bridge in the wee hours of today.

Jalaluddin, 22, son of Abdur Rauf of Narayanganj town, was driving the car when the accident occurred around 12:30am, our Munshiganj correspondent reports quoting Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Muktarpur naval police outpost.

The divers, who started searching for the missing youth in the morning, traced the car 60 feet down the river. A wrecker has been called to pull out the sunken car, the OC said.

A body was seen inside the sunken car, the divers said.

However, the efforts to pull out the car are being hampered due to strong currents in the river, the divers added.
