PM orders to help injured Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today directed the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh and other concerned to take immediate steps to provide all necessary assistance to the Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims injured in yesterday’s crane collapse in Mecca.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed all concerned in Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh and personnel involved in Hajj programme to provide necessary assistance to the Bangladeshi victims of a crane collapse at the Grand Mosque in Mecca," said a message from Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

According to the media report, at least 40 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims were injured in the collapse of the crane.

At least 107 people died and at least 238 injured after a huge crane toppled over and crashed through the roof of Islam’s most holy site in Mecca.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina has sent a message of condolence to the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, expressing her deep sympathy to the victims and their family members, a foreign ministry press release here said today.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has also sent a message to his Saudi counterpart following the tragic incident, the release added.
