Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has cancelled her France tour after the near-simultaneous attacks in Paris that left at least 129 dead and scores injured.

Sources inside the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed The Daily Star of the update today.

She was scheduled to attend the “Leaders’ Forum” in Paris hosted by the Unesco on November 16-17. Her flight was to depart Dhaka tomorrow morning.

Last night, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam had told The Daily Star that the premier will join the programme if not cancelled by the Unesco.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks carried out through Paris – a carnage that has drawn condemnation from world leaders including Hasina.

She had assured France of staying by its side in the fight against terrorism. President Abdul Hamid had also issued a condemnation message for France.
