Physically challenged youth tortured on theft charge

A physically challenged youth was brutally tortured on theft charge at a local bus terminal in the district town early Monday.

He sustained severe burn injuries as the torturers scalded him with burning polythene bags.

The victim is Salauddin, son of Safique Ullah of Rasulpur village in Sadar upazila of the district.

Police and family sources said when Salauddin was returning home from the bus terminal after coming from Feni, some young men caught him around 2:00am suspecting him to be a thief.

They tied him to a tree and tortured him. Later, the attackers left him by the road with his hands and legs tied.

Informed by locals, his family members rescued him and took him to Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, victim's brother Moin Uddin filed a case against 25 unidentified people with Sadar Police Station.
