Palli Bidyut’s negligence costs life

Negligence of Palli Bidyut authorities has taken the life of a man in Bypass More area of Rajapur upazila.

The victim was Nur Mohammad Khalifa, 60, of the area, said his son Md Baharul Khalifa.

Nur came in contact with a high voltage wire of Palli Bidyut when he went to cut a branch of a small tree beside his house on Friday. He died on the spot, said Baharul.

Normally, the high volt wires should be fixed 17 feet high from ground according to the information of the electric office, but the wires were fixed below 10 feet at many places.

Gobindo Chandra Shil, AGM of Palli Bidyut, said they are taking necessary measures to reinstall the wires following the proper height rule.
