Outlaw jailed for 17 years

A Pabna court on Wednesday sentenced an outlaw to 17 years rigorous imprisonment for possessing illegal firearm and ammunition.

Md Imran Hossain Chowdhury, additional district judge-2, pronounced the verdict in a crowded courtroom. 

The convict is Kamal Hossain, alias Kamal, 32, son of Abdul Hamid of village Sonatola under Ataikula Police Station.

Police arrested Kamal on December 27, 2011 and recovered a gun and four bullets from his possession.

10 prosecution witnesses gave their statements before the court, court sources said.

After examining the witnesses, the court pronounced the verdict, said assistant public prosecutor advocate Jahid Rana.
