4 killed in Noakhali road crash

Four passengers were killed when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali this afternoon.

The bus of “Himachal Paribahan” hit the auto-rickshaw on Noakhali-Comilla highway in front of Mirwarishpur Rashidia Madrasa around 3:00pm, leaving a woman dead on the spot, said Firoz Hossain Mollah, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Police Station.

Five others were also injured in the accident. Three of them succumbed to their injuries after they were taken to Noakhali General Hospital, the OC told our local correspondent.

The bus has been seized by police, but the driver managed to flee, he added.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
