Frightful anarchy is prevailing in the country as people’s lives and their properties have no security, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said today.

“Under the current situation it will not be possible for everybody to enjoy the pleasures of Eid in a befitting manner,” Khaleda said in a statement on Eid-ul-Azha, which is scheduled to be held on 25 September.

The statement was sent to media houses signed by the party’s spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon.

Khaleda flew to London on September 15 for the treatment of her eyes and knees and also to celebrate Eid with her family after eight years, said the statement.

She is likely to return home early next month.

In the statement, the BNP chief said, people’s sufferings knew no bounds due to price hike of essentials.

Besides, the crisis of water, fuel, gas and electricity has created an unbearable situation for the people.

“I urge all of the country’s affluent and capable people to extend their hands to the distressed and helpless people. We will have to take care of them to prevent them from starving on the joyous day of Eid,” she said.

Expressing Eid greetings to all, the former premier prayed for the happiness, peace and prosperity in their lives.
