Stalkers allegedly stabbed a young man to death as he protested stalking of his niece in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia early today.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Munna Alam, 26, of Sadipur village in the upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

The incident took place around 1:30am when Alam was going to attend a Waz Mehfil (religious gathering), said Jahangir Alam Khan, officer-In-Charge (OC) of Kumarkhali Police Station.

“Around seven men obstructed Alam’s way and stabbed him,” the OC said.

Severely injured Munna was rushed to Pabna General Hospital by locals where doctors declared him dead at about 3:30am. The body was sent to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.

Few days ago, Alam had engaged in a row with a group of miscreants who used to stalk his niece on her way to school. The stalkers had also threatened Alam of dire consequences, the OC said quoting victim’s relatives.

After the incident, enraged locals caught the four ‘stalkers’ and handed them over to the police.

During primary investigation, the four admitted their involvement in the crime.

Police also recovered two sharp weapons from their possessions which they admitted to using to kill Alam.
