Youth gets 10 years RI

A court here yesterday sentenced a youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act in 2016.

The accused, Rasel Gazi, 25, is a resident of Chowrasta area in Patuakhali town.

Patuakhali District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahidullah also fined the convict Tk 20,000. In default, he is to suffer six months more in jail.

Prosecution lawyer Mohammad Ariful Haque Tito said Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-8 detained Rasel with 175 Yaba tablets from Chowrasta area on September 9 in 2016 and later handed him over to Patuakhali Sadar Police Station.
