‘Yaba peddler’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A suspected yaba peddler was killed in what Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said a gunfight in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar early today.

The deceased was identified as Imam Hossain, 25, hailing from Zadimura area of Hnnila union of the upazila, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Lt Colonel Md Faisal Khan, captain of BGB Battalion-2.

The gunfight took place in Keora Bagan area near Zadimura border with Myanmar, the BGB officer said.

He also claimed that two BGB members were also injured during the “gunfight” who received primary treatment at Taknaf Upazila Health Complex. 

BGB team found 1,20,000 pieces of yaba, a locally made rifle and a sharp weapon from the area, added the BGB official.

Two cases were filed in connection with the incident.
