The victim, Sandhya Rani Barmon, 35, a resident of Malirchala village in the upazila, filed a case with Ghatail Police Station against her neighbour Monirul and four of his family members on Sunday.

Quoting the case statement, police said about two weeks ago Monirul informed the villagers that some important land documents and a gold ornaments were stolen from his house and his family blamed Sandhya's minor son Palash, 8, for the theft.

On January 3, Monirul's family called the boy and quizzed him in this regard.
