Woman held for ‘killing’ husband

Police yesterday detained a woman suspecting her involvement in killing her husband over family feud in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur on Wednesday night.

The arrestee, Asma Begum, 27, wife of Ershad Mia, is a resident of Moslem Bazar area in the upazila.

Quoting locals, police said after staying in Dhaka for the last six months Earshad returned to his village home on Wednesday.

The couple had an altercation before going to bed the same night.

Hearing Asma’s cry yesterday morning, villagers rushed to the house and found her husband lying dead.

Being informed, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy, Officer in Charge of Mithapukur Police Station Zafar Ali Biswas said, adding that they detained the deceased’s wife for interrogation.
