Vessel collision: Ctg port channel cleared for movement

Vessel movement at Chattogram port is set to resume after it was halted following an accident between two vessels in the port’s channel this morning.

The vessel movement at the port has been cleared four hours after its suspension, Md Omar Faruk, secretary of Chattogram post authority, told our staff correspondent.

Earlier around 8:30am, an empty oil tanker “MT-Burgan” collided with an oncoming cargo ship “Express Mahananda” near Guptaband point in the Karnaphuli Channel, the official said.

The two vessels were moved from the channel to a drydock using two tugboats of the port authority around 12:30pm, he added.
