Freedom fighter among four killed in road accidents

Four people were killed in road accidents in three districts on Sunday and yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Mymensingh, a freedom fighter, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday night, hours after he had been run over by an ambulance on Mymensingh-Tangail road.

Abdul Aziz, 65, was going to Muktagachha Natun Bazar by riding a bicycle around 3:30pm, said Ali Ahmed Mollah, officer-in-charge of Muktagachha Police Station.

Initially, he was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Later, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the OC.

Abdul Aziz, who was from Muktagachha area in Mymensingh, was buried at his family graveyard with state honours yesterday.

In Magura, two motorcyclists were killed as an oncoming speeding covered-van hit them in front of Juba Unnayan office in the town yesterday.

Lavlu Talukdar, 37, and his brother-in-law Neamul Islam, 24, died on the spot, said police.

In Chattogram, a traffic police constable was killed as a bus hit him in the city’s Khulshi area on Sunday night.

Critically injured Amanullah, 55, was rushed to CMCH where he was declared dead, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of CMCH Police Camp.
