'Unite for peace, prosperity'

The religious leaders at an interfaith discussion at Sreemangal yesterday called for unity of the people of all faiths for peace and prosperity among the communities.

The interfaith dialogue titled 'Big heart brings peace and prosperity' of Muslim, Hindu, Christian and Buddhist leaders was held at Sreemangal Upazila Parishad auditorium.  Sylhet Diocese Interfaith Dialogue Commission organised the meeting.

Bishop Bejoy N'd Cruze, chief of Sylhet Catholic Diocese, said people should be united to increase sympathy among themselves, forgetting conflict among themselves.

Sanghananda Thero, principal of Sylhet Bouddha Bihar, said fear of violence against the minority communities increases when the election comes.

Chandranathananda Maharaj, principal of Sree Ramakrishna Mission in Sylhet, and Shah Md Nazrul Islam, deputy director of the Islamic Foundation in Habiganj, also spoke.

Father Nicholas Baroi, parish priest of  Sreemangal Catholic Mission chaired the meeting.
