Two siblings drown

Two siblings drowned in a river at Goalnagar village in Nasirnagar upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Arman Mia, 16, and Salman Mia, 14, sons of Masud Mia of the village.

Goalnagar Union Parishad (UP) member Indrajit Das said the duo’s father stays in Chattogram for job purpose.

The ill-fated siblings came to visit their village home in Goalnagar. On Saturday noon, Salman went missing when he went to take bath in nearby Chikondiya river.

Arman went to rescue him, but both the siblings drowned.

Locals recovered the bodies from the river, said the UP member.

Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Kabir Hossain of Nasirnagar Police Station confirmed the incident.
