Two motorcyclists killed after covered van hits them in Cumilla

Two motorcyclists were killed after a covered van hit their motorbike on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla's Chandina upazila this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Nazmul Haque Sajal alias Bangavi Sajal (26) and Sariful Alam Sohag (27), said police.

Sariful and Sajal were president and general secretary of a social organisation named "Help For Humanity" in Cumilla, our Cumilla correspondent reports quoting locals.

Safayet Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Mainamati Crossing Highway Police Station said a Dhaka-bound covered van hit the motorcycle on the highway at Kalakachua around 2:30pm leaving both of them dead on the spot.

The families took the bodies to their respective homes before police could reach the spot, said the OC.

The police official said they seized the covered van from the spot but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
