Three JMB suspects arrested in Lalmonirhat

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat on Monday night.

They also seized books on jihad from their possession, said Mozammel Haque, commanding officer of Rab-13.

The arrestees are Shah Alam, 30, son of late Alauddin of Sahebdanga village, Sohel Rana, 28, son of Nur Mohammad of Dhepurgari village in Patgram and Monisur Rahman, 26, son of Md Asadul Islam of Chengmari village in Rangpur's Gangachara upazila.

The Rab official confirmed it at a press conference in Rangpur.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-13 raided Sahebdanga village in Patgram upazila and arrested them with the books on jihad.

During primary interrogation, the trio admitted that they were involved with JMB for the last five years and secretly carried out different activities.

The arrestees were later handed over to police, said the Rab offiical.
