Three electrocuted

Three people were electrocuted in Gaibandha and Jhalakathi districts yesterday and the day before, report our correspondents.

A man and his nephew died from electrocution while fishing in a marshy land at Purbo Damodorepur village in Gaibandha’s Sadullapur upazila on Wednesday night.  

The deceased were identified as Izol Mia, 40, and Uzzal Mia,18, of the village in the upazila.

Locals and family members said some persons, including the victims, went to catch fish in Katlamari marshy land.

At that time, Izol Mia, Uzzal and another Harun came in contact with a live electric wire.

They were rushed to Sadullapur Upazila Health Complex where the duo died later.

A farmer put live electric around his paddy field nearby just to control rate, that led to the fatal incident.

Meanwhile, a young man was electrocuted at Bagri village in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi yesterday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Md Bappi Howlader,18, son of Md Matiar Rahman Howlader of the village.

Bappi went to charge his battery-run auto-rickshaw in the afternoon and came in contact with a live electric wire. He died on the spot.
