TCB products seized from Sunamganj businessman’s storage facility

Local administration seized 76 sacks of sugar and 196 bottles of oil from the storage facility of a businessman in Sunamganj last night.

The seizure was made during a drive in Alipur area of Jagannathpur upazila in the district, reports our Sylhet correspondent quoting officials.

The products are from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and were supposed to be sold in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj at fair prices.

When informed, the upazila administration conducted the drive and detained Anan Hossain, brother of the storage facility's owner Noman Hossain, in this connection but Noman managed to flee, said Yeasir Arafat, assistant commissioner (land) of the upazila.

A case against the businessman and his brother will be lodged with Jagannathpur Police Station under Special Powers Act, the official added.
