Superintendent of police in Tangail, Sanjit Kumar Roy has vowed to select competent candidates in the recruitment of constables in a transparent manner.

He issued a press release today, saying the candidates will just have to buy a form with Tk 3 and pay Tk 100 for the entrance examination fee for the process.

He also urged all to remain cautious against the brokers and cheats saying that only the competent candidates will get the job without any recommendations.

The recruitment processes for 49 male constables and nine female constables for the district will start at Tangail Police Lines from July 1, our local correspondent reports.

This move from SP Sanjit to make the recruitment process a fair one comes amid growing concerns over bribery and political influence in the police recruitment system.

There are allegations that the job of a police constable can be secured by paying Tk 10-14 lakh and that of a sub-inspector for Tk-15-20 lakh.

Meantionably, SP Sanjit has been awarded the best under Dhaka Range on May 23 for honesty, credible police work, curbing narcotics and a variety of other issues.

On February 4, he received the Bangladesh Police Medal 2018 award from the Prime Minister at Rajarbagh Parade Ground for his dedication and hard work.
