Students of Rajshahi's Shah Makhdum Medical College have been protesting an attack on their fellows on the campus yesterday by the college's managerial staff.

The students entered the campus with police protection in the morning.

Meanwhile, two persons were detained over the attack on the students around 1:00am after Mehedi Hasan, a student of the medical college, filed a case last night with Chandrima Police Station against 21 people mentioning names of nine including the institution's managing director.

The detainees -- MD's younger brother Mithu and his wife Beauty – were held from their residence in the city, Officer-in-Charge Sirajum Monir told The Daily Star.

At least 11 students of the medical college were injured yesterday evening in an attack allegedly by the college's managerial staff after the students entered the campus to protest the privately-run college's "substandard education".

The students have been protesting for over a year, and investigating their allegations, the government shut down the college early November.
