Stalking Charge Against Madrasa Teacher: Probe body formed

A four-member probe committee has been formed to investigate stalking charge against a teacher of Dalgram Dakhil Madrasa at Dalgram village in Kaliganj upazila.

Headed by Abul Kalam Azad, assistant superintendent of the madrasa, the committee was formed on Wednesday and it was asked to submit the probe report by Sunday, said Superintendent of the madrasa Nurul Islam.

After getting the investigation report, they will take departmental action against the accused teacher, he said.

Rahena Khatun, a student of Class VIII at the madrasa, said Jewel Alam teaches them mathematics in the institution but his behaviour is not normal.

He used to propose the madrasa girls with offer of love for long, alleged Rahena.

Many are disturbed by his such approach but none of them dared to file any compliant against him, she said, adding that she recently informed the superintendent, managing committee of the madrasa, upazila nirbahi officer and deputy commissioner about the matter.

Abudr Rouf, guardian of a madrasa girl, said his daughter recently told him about the teacher’s misdeed.

Contacted, accused Jewel Alam declined to make any comment on the issue as investigation is going on.

“After the inquiry, I will face the media,” he said.

Madrasa Managing Committee President Abdul Jabbar said he got many allegations from students and their guardians against the alleged teacher.
