Beating Schoolgirl

Stalker lands in jail

A Rangpur court yesterday sent an alleged stalker to jail in connection with a case for beating up a schoolgirl in broad daylight in Rangpur’s Taraganj upazila the same morning.

The accused, Khademul Islam, 21, is son of Golam Mostafa of Katgari village in Nilphamari’s Kishoreganj upazila.

According to the victim’s family members, Khademul had long been stalking the seventh grader on her way to and from school for the last one year.

After the girl disclosed the matter to her family members, the girl’s father recently informed Khademul’s father of the matter and requested him to control his son.

As a sequel, aggrieved Khademul intercepted the girl when she arrived near Taraganj Bazar around 9:00am yesterday and locked in an altercation with her.

At one stage, Khademul slapped the girl first and then started beating her mercilessly.

Hearing her cry for help, local people rushed to the spot, caught the culprit redhanded.

They also rescued the victim and took her to Targanj Upazila Health Complex.

Being informed, police went to the spot and took Khademul under their custody.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Targanj Police Station Zinnat Ali said victim’s father filed a case with the police station yesterday noon accusing Khademul.

Later in the day, police produced the arrestee before a court that sent him to jail, the OC added.
