Southeast Bank’s Khatunganj branch in Chattogram locked down

Southeast Bank Limited's Khatunganj branch in Chattogram will be put under lockdown starting Sunday after the in-charge of security at the bank was found infected with Covid-19.

"The security in-charge, also a retired army surgeon, tested positive for coronavirus on Friday night," Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Noble Chakma told The Daily Star.

Chattogram Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said the man tested positive for coronavirus and is now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Chattogram.

After police were notified by the civil surgeon's office, they locked down the Khatunganj branch. The lockdown will be in effect from tomorrow when banks open following the weekend.

Employees of the branch were asked to remain in home quarantine for 14 days, the assistant commissioner added.

"The lockdown will officially start from Sunday. But if the bank authorities can manage alternate workforce for the branch, they will be allowed to operate," said Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Mohammed Mohsin.
