Graft: Shahjadpur sub-registrar suspended

The law ministry has suspended Subrata Kumar Das, sub-registrar of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, on charge of committing professional misconduct and corruption.

Subrata was also attached to the registrar office in Sirajganj, said a notification issued by the law and justice division under the ministry.

The ministry also decided to lodge a departmental case against Subrata over the allegation of corruption, it added.

“As the allegations brought against the accused are serious, it will not be right to keep him in his office for the sake of a complete investigation,” it said.

The notification, however, said Subrata will get the relevant allowances during his suspension period.

Earlier, a video clip of taking bribe by Shahjadpur’s Sub-registrar Subrata Kumar Das in his office room went viral on Facebook, a social media platform, and sparked mass criticism across the country.
