Schoolgirl raped in Jashore

A schoolgirl was allegedly raped by a young man at Gourighona village in Jashore's Keshabpur Upazila on Monday.

Following the incident, the victim's sister last night filed a case with Keshabpur Police Station accusing three people -- Rubel, Hassan and Khalek.

According to the case statement, one Rubel Hossain forcibly entered the house of the victim -- a student of Class-VIII -- around 9pm on Monday and raped her.

Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot and caught Rubel while he was trying to flee.

Rubel's brother Abdul Khalek and two other associates came to the spot after hearing the matter and attacked the victim's family, leaving her father and sister injured, reports our Benapole correspondent.

The injured victims were admitted to the local health complex.

Keshabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abu Sayed said the victim was sent to Jashore Medical College Hospital for a medical examination and police are trying to arrest the other accused.
