Schoolgirl beaten by stalker

A schoolgirl was beaten by an alleged stalker in Sreemangal upazila on Sunday.

Accused Sohag Mia, 25, of Jamburachhera village, beat the eighth grader when she was returning home from school in the area. The girl was rushed to the upazila health complex.

The victim’s brother said Sohag used to stalk his sister on her way to school. As she refused his love proposal, Sohag beat her on Sunday afternoon.

Sohag went into hiding after the incident, said police.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint with Sreemangal Police Station against Sohag, Noor Mia and Babul Mia.

Sohel Rana, OC of the police station, said action will be taken after investigation.
