Road transport leaders today demanded the government to resume public transport considering their sufferings.

Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation and Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association made the same demands separately.

The federation placed their three-point demand at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club.

Their demands include providing financial assistance to transport workers and selling rice at Tk 10 per kg at bus terminals.

They will stage demonstration across the country on May 2 and will give memorandum to deputy commissioners in every district on May 4 to press home their demands.

Osman Ali, general secretary of the federation, read out their demands and announced the programs at a press conference.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association made their demand to resume public transport through a press statement.

Bangladesh Road Truck Owners Association, another major association of transport owners, yesterday, urged the government to resume public transport from tomorrow considering the plight of transport owners and workers.

They also demanded the government to allocate Tk 50,000 crore as special incentives at low interest rate for public transport owners.
