The rebel candidate of ruling Awami League has accused his party-nominated candidate of violating election code ahead of upazila election to Muktagacha upazila.

Abdul Hye Akanda accused his opponent Billal Hossain Sarker, secretary of Muktagachha Awami League, of attacking his camps, our local correspondent reports.

“Billal Sarker and his followers have been violating election rules by destroying posters, ransacking elections camps, attacking my activists and threatening voters not to go to polling centres,” he said at a press conference today.

“I have already informed the returning officer, upazila nirbahi officer and police; but no action was taken to stop the AL candidate and his men,” said Hye.

Brushing the allegations aside, Billal Hossain raised counter allegation saying that his election posters were torn and burnt at Guldnaga in presence of Abdul Hye last night.

He informed the police about it and the law enforcers visited the spot today, said Billal.
