Rapist gets life term in Sirajganj

A Sirajganj court yesterday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a woman in Sirajganj's Shahzadpur upazila in 2006.

Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir of Sirajganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal pronounced the verdict in the crowded court room in absence of the convict.

The convict, Md Sona Ullah, 45, son of Joydhar Ali of Balabari village in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj, is absconding.

Additional Public Prosecutor Abdul Hamid Lablu said the convict entered the house of the woman in Ghorshal Natunpara village under Shahzadpur upazila on March, 8, 2006 and raped her after showing arms.
