Rape of 2-Year-Old: Lone accused arrested

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-14) arrested a youth from Kishoreganj's Katiadi Bus Stand area early yesterday in connection with a case for raping a two-year-old girl on Saturday.

The accused is Akram Mia, 17, son of Milon Mia of Manikdi Paratola village in Bhairab upazila.

A team of Rab-14 led by Bhairab Company Commander Rofiuddin Mohammad Jubaer raided the area and arrested Akram around 3:00am.

At a press briefing yesterday, the company commander said they had been conducting drives to arrest Akram since father of the victim filed a case with Bhairab Police Station on February 16.

Quoting the case statement, Officer in Charge of Bhairab Police Station Mohammad Shaheen said Akram, a neighbour of the victim girl, took her to his house on Saturday evening and raped her.

Hearing screams, family members and neighbours rushed to the spot, rescued the girl and admitted her to Bhairab Upazila Health Complex.

The following day, she was sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital for medical test.
