There is a chance of rain at many places across the country tonight and tomorrow morning owing to the influence of the cyclonic storm “Fani”.

While talking to The Daily Star this morning, Ruhul Kuddus, meteorologist of the Bangladesh Met office, forecast a slight drop in day-time temperature. “But the current heat wave will only let off following rains,” he said.

The cyclonic storm Fani over Southeast Bay and adjoining areas moved North-Northwestwards further over the same area, according to the weather bulletin on the Bangladesh Met office website.

The cyclonic storm is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, it said.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts/squalls and the sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No. two.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice.
