Pregnant woman murdered

A four-month pregnant woman was killed allegedly by her husband in Kutub Masjidpara area of Kishoreganj's Austragram upazila on Friday.

The victim was Lipi Rani Deb, 32, daughter of Tulsi Ranjan Deb of Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria, and wife of Manik Kumar Deb, vice chairman of Austragram upazila parishad. She was also the mother of an eight-year-old boy.

The victim's brother Chandan Deb said Manik and his family members often tortured Lipi over trivial family matters since their marriage 12 years ago.

On Friday evening, Manik strangled Lipi over a family feud. The body was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said police.

Contacted, Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Austragram Police Station, said none has complained in this regard yet.
