One killed in elephant attack

A man was trampled to death during an attack by a herd of wild elephant inside a forest in Bandarban’s Sualok area on Wednesday.

The deceased, Abdur Rahman, 45, along with his family came to Bangladesh from Myanmar around 20 years ago, said Abdur Shukkur, a ward member of Chattogram’s Bajalia union adjacent to Bandarban.

A herd of wild elephant attacked Rahman when he went to the forest, Sukkur said.

During this time every year, wild elephants came down to Bhagyakul, Goyalmara, Kadukhola, Alinagar and Tonkaboti area under Sualok union in search of food, according to Bandarban forest officials.
