One to die, 2 get life term for murders

A Khagrachhari court yesterday sentenced a man to death and his parents to life term imprisonment for killing his wife and minor child in 2016.

The death sentence awardee is Saber Ali, 29, while the lifers are Saber’s father Mahbub Ali, 54, and mother Renu Ara Begum, 49.

According to the case statement, Saber with the help of his parents killed his wife Majeda Begum, 22, and their six-month-old child in their sleep of March 22 in 2016.

Later, Majeda’s father Sahab Uddin filed a murder case with Guimara Police Station accusing Saber and his father, mother and brother.

The court acquitted Saber’s brother as charges brought against him could not be proved.
