No online examinations, enrolment until further notice: UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) today once again urged the authorities of private universities to refrain from taking examinations and conducting admission activities online.

Amid the prevailing situation, the commission thinks that there is no favourable atmosphere in the country for private universities to continue taking examinations and enroll studentsonline, the UGC said in press release this afternoon.

The call to the authorities of private universities will remain effective until further notice, according to the press release.

Earlier, on April 6, the UGC urged the authorities concerned of private universities to refrain from taking examinations and conducting evaluations online, after it was found that some universities are doing so while some have decided to start their admission process for summer semester without evaluation, which is unethical.

On March 24, the UGC in a press release urged teachers to take online classes to recoup the losses caused by the suspension of academic activities.

It also requested all to follow the directives of the government as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO) for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
