N’ganj mosque blast: Mosque committee chief arrested for negligence

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police yesterday arrested the president of Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Pashchim Talla of Narayanganj Sadar upazila in a case filed over negligence in connection with the explosion at the mosque on September 4, which left 34 people dead.
The arrestee, Abdul Gafur (55), was arrested after he returned to Narayanganj from Jashore on a bus on Friday night, said Nasir Uddin Ahmmed, special superintendent of police (CID) in Narayanganj.
Gafur has been absconding since the explosion at the mosque, the CID official said.
Details in this regard will be revealed later during a press briefing at noon today, Nasir Uddin added.
The mosque blast in Narayanganj on September 4 left 34 people dead.
