Newlywed woman kills self in Faridpur

A newly married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree at Hasamdia village in Boalmari upazila on Wednesday.

After the incident, the victim’s husband went into hiding.

The deceased was Mira Begum, 18, wife of Md Rakibul Islam, 28, of the village.

Police and locals said Mira, daughter of Tahidul Sheikh of Charpara village, married Rakibul two months ago.

The couple often engaged in altercations after their marriage, said M Imran, sub-inspector of Boalmari Police Station.

Mira took her life by hanging herself from a tree near the house on Wednesday night following an altercation with her husband.
