Newborn found in forest

A newborn baby was found abandoned inside Janokicherra jungle under Lawacherra reserve forest in Kamalganj upazila of the district yesterday.

Mohammad Ibrahim, a forest guard, first spotted the baby, wrapped in a polythene bag, inside the jungle around 7:00am and informed the upazila health complex authorities, Beat Officer at Lawacherra Reserve Forest Anwar Hossain said.

Being informed by the hospital authorities, a police team rushed to the spot, rescued the infant and admitted him to Srimangal Upazila Health Complex, he added.

Sub-Inspector Syed Belayet Hosain  of Sreemangal Police Station said the child will be handed over to the court after treatment.
