Mymensingh road crash kills two

Head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a truck killed two people including an engineer and injured five on Mymensingh-Tangail highway under Muktagacha municipality in Mymensingh this morning.

The deceased were identified as Md Harun-or-Rashid (45), sub-assistant engineer at Madhupur Municipality in Tangail, and an unidentified woman aged around 52, police said.

The injured were passengers of the CNG-run auto rickshaw, our Mymensingh correspondent reported, quoting police.

The accident happened around 8:30am, said Mohammad Ali Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Muktagacha Police Station.

Upon being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy, he said.

The injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital, the OC said.

Police seized the vehicles. However, the truck driver managed to flee, the police official added.

The engineer hailed from Madhyahisya area in Muktagacha municipality, and was on his way to Mymensingh for official purposes, said police.
