Mother kills newborn for being female

A woman allegedly killed her newborn for being female at Nohail village in Birganj upazila yesterday. 

Police said Kohinur Begum married Abdur Rahim five years ago. After two years of their marriage, Kohinur gave birth to a girl.

She gave birth to a girl again at home yesterday noon.

Kohinur later drowned the newborn in water of a bucket and fled the scene.
