Mother kills 2 kids with poison

A woman alleged tried to take her life after killing her two children at Ghonimoheshpur village in Sadar upazila yesterday.

The deceased were one-and-half-year-old Nur Jamal and six-year-old Shammi.

Police and locals said Selim Uddin, 35, married Nurbanu Akhter, 25, eight years ago.

The couple often engaged in altercations over family issue after their marriage.

Nurbanu took poison after feeding the same to Jamal and Shammi following an altercation with her husband in the morning.

The three were rushed to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where the duo died later, said Officer-in-Charge of Ruhea Police Station Prodip Kumar Roy.
