Mobile court demolishes illegal brick kiln in Ghatail

A mobile court during a drive yesterday demolished an illegal brick kiln in Ghatail upazila of Tangail.

The executive magistrate of Department of Environment (DoE) led the demolition of Bishal Brick Kiln in Dhalapara area around noon.

Aside from local DoE officials, personnel from law enforcers and the Fire Service and Civil Defence also took part in the drive.

Mujahidul Islam, deputy director of Department of Environment in Tangail, said there are 274 brick kilns in 12 upazilas of the district and out of those, as many as 118 brick kilns have valid documents.

Among the remaining 156, a total of 137 have been conducting operations after obtaining orders from the court, while 19 others have been conducting business without any permission from any authorities whatsoever.

The demolished establishment, Bishal Brick Kiln, had been operating without any authorisation from any government authorities, he said, adding that it did not obtain any authorisation from the district administration either.
