Missing Jubo Dal leader found dead

A local Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal leader, missing for the last five days, was found dead in Atghoria upazila of the district on Monday yesterday.

The victim, Shajahan Ali, 40, son Tofazzal Hossain of Shalgaria village in Sadar upazila, was join secretary of Pabna district unit Jubo Dal.

Police recovered Shajahan's decomposed body from Gongarampur village yesterday afternoon.

Deceased's brother Faridul Islam said Shajahan, a shopkeeper, went out of his shop on March 31 evening and remained missing since then.

Later, failing to trace his whereabouts, Faridul lodged a general diary (GD) with Pabna Sadar Police Station the following day.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Atghoria Police Station Hafizur Rahman said sensing bad odour coming from behind the house of one Kashem Ali of Gongarampur village on Monday evening, local people informed the matter to police, who went to the spot and recovered Shajahan's decomposed body from an abandoned toilet.

Criminals might have dumped the body there after killing him somewhere else, the OC said, adding that they sent the body to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy yesterday.
