Man stabbed to death

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his uncle at Bogaputa village in Ishwarganj upazila on Tuesday.

The victim was rickshaw van-puller Golap Mia, 40, son of Rahim Uddin of the village.

Locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Golap and his uncle Rahmat Ali, 60, over five decimals of land.

Around 8:00pm on Tuesday, Rahmat and his sons Monju Mia, 37, and Sohagh Mia, 30, locked in an altercation with Golap over the issue.

At one stage, Rahmat stabbed Golap with a vegetable cutter, leaving him critically injured, said Ahmed Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwarganj Police Station.

He was rushed to the upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead, said the OC, adding that the body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
