Man, son held over driver murder

Police yesterday arrested a man and his son from Trishal upazila on charge of killing a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver in the city.

The arrestees are human hauler driver Monir Mia, 55, and his son Babu Mia, 25, of Tangail.

They used to live at a rented house in the city's Nandibari area, said Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer in charge (operation) of Kotwali Police Station.

On information, police raided Dhanikhola area in Trishal and arrested the duo. During interrogation, they confessed to killing driver Rabbi Mia, 28, over previous enmity, said the OC.

The arrestees were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court which later sent them to jail.
