Man kills cousin

A man allegedly beat his cousin to death following a feud over setting up an electric wire in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Friday.

The deceased, Ziaul Haq, 45, son of late Zaimuddin of Shekta village in the upazila, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday, police said.

Officer in Charge of Panchbibi Police Station Monsur Rahman said Ziaul and his cousin Azizul Islam locked in altercation over setting up an electric wire which passed over Ziaul’s house.

At one stage of altercation, Azizul hit Ziaul with a bamboo stick and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Family members took injured Ziaul to RMCH where he died on Saturday morning, the OC said, adding that a murder was filed with the police station.
